4 Trapeziums, 2 Triangles, 1 Square, 1 Rectangle — and a Tree. Chambers Bay #2

[ARTIST STATEMENT]. The heart of minimalism is to break the composition down into its simplest elements. It's just basic geometry.

Chambers Bay is a small section of Tacoma Washington right on Puget Sound. It has stunning views of the Olymp[ics (on a clear day that is ;). Best known as a PGA-level golf course. It also has a public park. Dotted around the park are the remnants of a former port for sand, gravel, and other materials that helped build Tacoma in its early days. Those same remnants (all concrete) now form several follies for people to look and wonder at as they traverse the park. These extremely large structures and the quite barren landscape of the former port all give the look & feel of an open-air tribute to the post-WWII (1950's UK) Brutalist style of architecture. Quite incongruent to the green and lush landscapes normally associate with the Pacific Northwest.
